HIS is an IB World School that offers the expatriate community in Hangzhou an inclusive international experience and curriculum (Nursery to Grade 12) based on the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework. HIS was founded in August, 2002. Till today, it has more than 650 students from over 50 different countries whose aged from 2 to 18 years old, from early years I to grade 12. The primary teaching language is English, but also giving Mandarin (beginner to native levels), French, Spanish, Mother Tongue Programs. All teachers are fully qualified with at least 5 years full-time experience. More than 50% hold Master or Doctoral degrees.
Teaching Assistants: 1 per 6 students in Early Years; 1 per classroom in Pre-K and Kindergarten; 1 per grade level in Grades 1-5; also some TA’s for specialist programs.
Class Size: Early Years I/II: 16; Pre-kindergarten: 18; Kindergarten: 20; Grades 1-12: 22 (class sizes reflect targets, not maximums)
Education/ Curriculum: IB World School, with PYP, MYP and IB Diploma Programme for university preparation.
School Hours: 8 am to 3 pm
